Kursbeschreibung
Participants will be given tips on preparing a short talk -- pitch -- about their topic of research. The course addresses story, structure, speaking and stagework: shaping an idea, leading through the pitch, speaking clearly to a wide audience and getting ready to take the stage. It is a perfect preparation for a pitch at the Postdoc Night in September.
Learning targets:
Participants will learn...
- how to shape a short presentation.
- the need for storytelling and a simple narrative set.
- the difference between spoken and written texts, and how to speak clearly.
- how to deal with adrenaline and nerves before going on stage.
- perfect practice techniques.
- how to give and receive constructive feedback.
Target group:
The workshop is aimed at postdocs who need to give short talks for a wider audience. The course is suitable for any postdoc who has an idea for a talk on their research topic. It particularly addresses those who wish to prepare for this year’s Postdoc Night.
