Content:
In this workshop, we will review basic project planning techniques, and you will apply them to your research project. We will also reflect on key methods for efficient and effective time and self-management in the context of a doctoral program and consider how to use these to overcome procrastination, sustain motivation, and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Additional focal points of the workshop include the efficient handling of scientific literature and knowledge management within the doctoral process, as well as the constructive shaping of your own supervisory situation. In general, the workshop will focus on selecting methods that work well for you and on discussing how you can successfully transfer them into practice.
Topics covered:
- Effective project management methods for your doctorate
- Key time management strategies for researchers
- Managing the supervisory relationship and getting high-quality feedback
- Efficient literature research and note-taking
- Overcoming procrastination, sustaining motivation, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance
This course will take place for FYORD members and doctoral researchers interested in marine sciences (registration in the FYORD portal) on 05 and 06 November 2026.

Courses within this category are part of the Graduate Center's qualification program. They are free of charge for doctoral researchers who are registered with the Graduate Center. To get access to these courses you must be register with the Graduate Center, here.
Registrations are welcome until April 26th, 2026. We will then determine whether the minimum number of 10 participants has been reached. Should the minimum number of participants not have been reached, the event will not take place due to financial reasons. Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, further registrations are possible until 8 days before the event begins.
