2-Day-Workshop:
Thursday, 19 February 2026, 09:00 a.m. - 05:00 p.m.
Friday, 20 February 2026, 09:00 a.m. - 05:00 p.m.
Content:
WHAT do you do in your research?
HOW do you work in your research?
WHY is your topic important to you?
The aim of the course is to be able to communicate (your own) research topics in an understandable and correct way and to be able to discuss them in an interdisciplinary way. This also includes the ability to present research in a didactically reconstructed form in order to enable broad participation in academic topics.
The theoretical part of the course provides an overview of the actors in external science communication, discusses the basics of good science communication and gives examples of formats and forms. In the practical part, participants will apply what they have learned to present their own research in a way that is accessible to a wider audience.
The participation in this course is accountable for the certificate “Science Communication” of the Graduate Center. Please contact Mirco Bergerhof if you are interested.
Registration:
We have decided to make the Graduate Centers qualification program avilable via the booking portal of Kiel University's Continuing Professional Development Center with immediate effect. You will find the respective courses listed under the category Exclusively for Doctoral Researchers. They are free of charge for doctoral researchers who are registered with the Graduate Center. To get access to these courses you must be registered with the Graduate Center, here.
Registrations are welcome until 1 February 2026. We will then determine whether the minimum number of 10 participants has been reached. Should the minimum number of participants not have been reached, the event will not take place due to financial reasons. Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, further registrations are possible until 8 days before the event begins.
Organizational details:
