The course "Didactic Basics for technical and natural sciences" deals with the basics of teaching and learning research tailored to the teaching of the Faculty of Engineering. The focus of the course is on the implementation of the content into practice.

Contents are:

• Important impact factors of teaching and learning
• Preparation and implementation of courses (structure, formulation of learning objectives, didactic reduction)
• Selection of methods and media
• Dealing with challenging or unpredictable situations in teaching
• Elements of the group process
• Using your own presence/personality for teaching

Learning targets:

At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to...

• apply the important factors of teaching and learning to their course at the TF.
• prepare and conduct a course in a structured manner.
• select and apply methods and media related to the formulation of learning objectives.
• name strategies for dealing with difficult situations in teaching and consider whether they are applicable to themselves.
• apply elements of the group process to their course.

• When you register as a mandatory participant, please note that attending the training is part of your official duties and an unexcused absence is a violation of your official responsibilities. Any further education undertaken during your working hours is subject to the prior approval of your manager.
• Access information to the course will be announced via e-mail.
• CAU-Certificates: Certificate in Higher Education Didactics, Basic Courses (further information in German)
• Fee: 500,00 €. Free for employees of CAU and PhD students who are registered within the Graduiertenzentrum.
• Deadline for registration: 11 days before the date of the course
